“Alive and Kicking” is a documentary about the life of one of the most acclaimed soneros (improvisational singers) of the Salsa genre.
Born in La Parada 26, Santurce, Puerto Rico, September 10, 1941, Ramón Luis Ramírez Toro, better known as Chamaco Ramírez, became well known for his unparalleled skills in the art of improvisation, leaving his mark and influence over multiple generations of singers.
His career was marked by hits like “Trucutú”, “Planté Bandera”, “Pa’ lante otra vez”, Adivínalo and many more during his time with the Tommy Olivencia Orquestra and also as a solo singer.
“Alive and Kicking” presents a balanced account of his life through the investigation of the circumstances that surrounded his life, as well as his violent death in the streets of the Bronx on March 26, 1983. The documentary is backed by the family of the artist. It will include never-before-seen footage, including live presentations, interviews and more.
