Barrio Latino | Artist Profile

Barrio-Latino

Formed in 2005 by trumpeter and composer Tamas Bodzsár and a group of young jazz musicians, Barrio Latino is the first Timba orchestra in Hungary. Although the band has not been active in the past few years, the bands’ music was recognized by Grammy award winning sound engineer Michael Lazarus, owner of Latin Pulse Music Inc. and it’s various divisions. Modern internet tools and programs have facilitated this new international collaboration between Tamas and Michael, and, as a consequence of this collaboration, Barrio Latino’s debut album will be released on the USA-based, LPM record label: Spanish Music Records.

Vampisoul SAOCO NOW! Orquesta el Macabeo “Perico” + Bio Ritmo “Carnaval” 45RPM Vinyl

First release of a new 7” series called “Saoco Now!”, which will offer current covers of classic songs from Puerto Rico’s rich history of dance music. Orquesta el Macabeo and Bio Ritmo, two of today’s most exciting salsa combos, reinterpret two tracks originally released by Cortijo y su Combo and update them in their own irresistible style.

Continuing the journey started with our “¡Saoco!” compilations, the series “Saoco Now!” presents contemporary covers of classics of Puerto Rican dance music. On this first release, two of the most innovative salsa bands working today join forces to pay homage to maestro percussionist and bandleader Rafael Cortijo, a central figure in the repertoire featured on the ¡Saoco! reissues.
