The Most Popular Salsa Orchestra On The East Coast
Ricardo Diquez and The Tropic Orchestra is a Caribbean dance band, consisting of international musicians. The popularity of Latin rhythms such as Merengue, Cha Cha Cha and Salsa, allowed the group to perform a wide range of styles in festivals and places where people can listen, dance, learn, and most of all enjoy the rhythms of Latin music.
Ricardo has been singing all of his life and has entertained crowds and dancers in the area for over 20 years. Salsa music has been a part of Ricardo’s life since he was a child having met many Salsa greats such as, Hector Lavoe, Celia Cruz, Ruben Blades, Oscar D’ Leon, and Tito Rojas; courtesy of his parents introductions as a child.
Since its beginning back in October of 2007 the band has had a busy performing schedule. This versatile group includes musicians from the United States, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Venezuela. Many of the band’s members have been involved in the local and international Latin music scenes previously, in both recordings and performances with Roberto Roena y su Apollo Sound, Carnavalito, El Grupo Cardi, Orquesta GarDel, Ciclon Band, Sajaso, El Grupo Camaleon, Fusion Caribe, Sarengue, Songo, La Sexta Clave, Charanga Carolina and Conjunto 23. Adding to this diversity, some of Tropic Orchestra’s players have had involvement in many other styles of music such as jazz, funk, fusion, rock, soul, reggae, ska, rhythm ‘n’ blues, heavy metal, folk and classical. The group consists of Lead singer Ricardo Diquez and 7 up to 12 guest musicians.
